26”–BIKE CHECK
I have recently discovered a love for a “small” bike as me and my friends call it. You know, 26” wheels–small bike, obvious.
So the idea was to built up a jump bike from parts, that were laying around at home or at work. With a help of “mi hermano” Jakub, this black beast has risen up from boxes with long gone forgotten parts.
Consider this a BIKE CHECK and an impulse to build one for yourself.
I wanted to have a possibility to do barspins even though I won't be able to ever do them, because they are scary.
Deity Frisco Pivotal saddle is so comfy and doesn't bite your knees when you try to learn to barspin.
See the reflection?
Single speed chain lasts forever and with cranks with 30 tooth chainring and 14 tooth sprocket the gearing is spot on.
Another Deity part that is simply stellar! Light, durable, insane grip and it looks very very sexy, no doubt about that.
Sexy angle.
Fork is the most expensive part on this build. There were no other forks available at the time.
Love the details.
Frame is old, but still works perfectly. Black is my colour and the graphics are sexy and I like vintage stuff.
Chain line straight as a spaghetti.
Pins and everything inside the pedal is replaceable–will last a long time.
Will I ever learn to barspin?
Novatec hubs, they are somewhat cheap and the rear one has a 4 or 6 pawls (I’m not sure) hence the loud sound which is a must have on these kind of bikes, right?
Kamil donated these bombproof rims. They have sticker “Carve Hard” and that could mean anything.

I built this bike to have a something to switch and a sort of disconnect my mind from gravel riding. I started riding with “mi hermano” Jakub, who fast became my mentor and teacher on how to ride and do tricks–I don't do them although I wish to. First couple sessions I tried to just to figure out the bike and survive, but with time I got better (everything’s better when you practice).
As the time went by and I got comfortable on the bike I realized–I can document this. It would be something different to focus my mind on and broaden my skills in photography and also in other kind of riding bikes.
I’d like to thank to Jakub for helping me with riding, also to Honza for sticking around and coming up with all sorts of challenges and I can’t forget Kamil helping me with the build na pitching this idea of a “small bike”.
Thank you guys!
“Mi hermano” Jakub
