New Routes

We recently did some gravel riding in the south of Slovenia—good times! That's the travelling abroad part. When we got back I felt the urge to explore a bit of new gravel roads here at home, where we ride the most. This road had been on my list for a while. Today was the day.

It’s funny how travelling abroad let’s you experience more of your home ground a little bit more. It may sound strange to write sentence like this but I find it kinda true.

I had rained a lot over the past few days, so muddy conditions were to be expected. It's not ideal for exploring and riding into the unknown, but that's what adventures are for. Wouldn't you agree?

The rain of the previous days was evident and it was slowly draining our energy and our spirits.

Sadly, we had to abandon my exploration plans and turn off the muddy roads. It was unbearable to ride in the sloppy, greasy and deep mud. There was no point in carrying on.

The failed exploration wasn't so bad because I planned the route around an ice-cream stop. So all the wounds were healed and we decided to leave the road for next time.
