O—P—O, V2
Okay, here we go. I have this riding buddies group, and two of them have never been to Praděd (the highest mountain in Moravia) on bikes. So this is the reason for this ride. We rode from Olomouc to Praděd and back and these are the photos documenting what happened along the way.
It was a rainy morning when we decided to give it a go. It stopped raining around 9:30, so we set off for our journey. We planned to take a long winding route through a valley to a midpoint of the ride. Rýmařov was the midpoint. We stopped to restock supplies before the real fun and real climbs began.
We made a quick stop at the Lidl, where David was questioning his decision on what to put in his bidons. Fortunately, he didn't go with that decision.
The roads got rough, and the gravel from the Jeseníky Mountains showed its strength. We had two punctures: first David with a small hole in his tire sidewall, then Pavel with a big blow and a huge hole that was impossible to plug. He threw in a tube and we carried on.
It didn't take long and we were tackling the main climb to the top of the mountain. The energy was low but spirits were high.
We reached the top, we conquered Praděd, the second highest mountain in our homeland. The boys were tired but very happy to be there. We celebrated with a shot of herbal liquor called Praděd, the same as the mountain. Looks weird and tastes even weirder, but it is an integral part of this place, so bottoms up.
From the top down we went. With our jackets on we hit the downhill in Brian Safa style. Only one big climb separated us from the sweet flat roads of Haná.
Smooth sailing, with only a few pedal strokes at a time, we cruised into the roads we know by heart. Happy with what we had done, we rode back to David's house, where pizza and beer were waiting for us. A nice end to a long day. We stayed in the garden for a long time, talking and soaking up the last rays of the setting sun.
