Rambling Through The Night
This is my second year riding in winter, through the night in (sometimes) below freezing temperatures. The thought is–I would have never believed that cycling in dark could be so much fun. I am going to repeat myself, but riding with limited vision is whole another level how to use your bike. You can't see much on left or right, you definitely can't see too far ahead of you and I rarely look back, usually there’s just a red blinking light from your seat post.
For me it was and still is a refreshing activity, a creative outlet, a problem solving situation in a sense of documenting the ride. A routine crusher that will pull you out of your comfort zone mentally and physically as well. Also an another huge part of these rides are friends who ride with you. My trusty wingman, Pavel is always up for adventure without complains and that’s muy importante! Next thing is on the list is safety. It is insanely stupid to just ride by yourself, imagine looking for something in the dark–no bueno. And the last thing above all, just have fun!
On this ride we tackled gravel and not-so-gravel roads between fields and villages northwest of Olomouc. We saw an owl, two rabbits and multiple mice suicidally running across the road just in front of our wheels.
