I’m really starting to enjoy this
Another batch of film surprises. I have to say, I’m really starting to enjoy this. I’ve shot film before, but only recently have I come to appreciate how fun and memorable it truly is. There’s something exciting about pulling out the tiny camera, sliding open the sleek lens door, hearing the soft whirr as the lens extends, and peering through the tiny viewfinder. Framing the shot, pressing the shutter, and then waiting—sometimes for weeks—until the roll is finished adds to the anticipation.
I also love thinking about the choices behind each photo—what to capture and why. Sometimes, even when I decide not to take a shot, the image stays with me. It burns into my memory, only to slowly fade as I repeat this process over and over again. I forget about the frames I took because they become these very surprises I am writing about.
I know this isn’t anything new—it’s been around forever. But I’m starting to see the beauty in it. Slowing down, embracing the wait, and not having instant results at the press of a button isn’t just rewarding. It’s worth the wait.
